Charting the Course: EMREX and the Evolution of Student Records Jan-Joost Norder from DUO offered a comprehensive overview of the EMREX initiative for electronically managing student records. The session delved into the program's origins, its current functionalities, and the roadmap for the future. The Big Launch – PBSA Europe Initiatives '24 Alice Quinones, PBSA Europe Council Chair and Martin Hardy, PBSA Europe Council Chair Elect revealed two groundbreaking initiatives that the Europe task forces have been diligently working on over the past few months: 1. Country Factsheet Initiative The new Country Factsheets provide comprehensive information about the types of checks commonly performed in various countries. It kicked off with France with plans to expand to other nations soon. 2. Marketing Campaign As one of this year's goals is to grow the membership across Europe, a journey started at the end of 2023 to define what PBSA Europe offers. With the invaluable help of members, three core pillars were identified: Promoting Excellence | Cultivating Trust | Building Community Continued on page 5 " We should not forget that technology still requires to comply with applicable data protection and employment legislation." - Valerie Bertrand Lastly, we discussed the technological aspects of background screening. Digital identity is emerging in many countries across Europe, urging authorities to provide more comprehensive guidelines for managing personal information. Looking into our crystal ball, it appears that there is a long, long, way to go before there is a digital wallet that would include each individual's personal information.
