Continued from page 8 Verify, Then Trust. The fastest, most credible and accurate verifications in the world. Ranging from criminal checks to digital ID verification, we offer global screening coverage in 140+ countries. www.amsinform.com ID Checks Professional License Verification Global Database Check Professional Reference Check Address Check Employment Verification Educational Verification Criminal Records Check items that can have an adverse impact on the services that our members provide. Contact one of our contracted partners or a member of our leadership team if you see something – a piece of legislation, request for comments, changing regulation, or even a prominent news story that may help in PBSA messaging. Yes, we may be aware of some of these thanks to our legislative tracking software and contracted partners but MANY of the items impacting the membership are brought to our attention by you – our members. • How many times have you heard the refrain, "get involved" and thought "how do I do that?" The blueprint to get involved is as simple as joining a committee meeting. Committees are the engine of the Association. It is OK to be an observer for the first few meetings to understand the flow of the conversation. It's even OK to join a committee and decide you want to try another committee. Eventually, you will work up the courage to be an active participant. If there is a taskforce formed, raise your hand. You do not have to volunteer to lead the group, but as part of the industry, you have valuable insight to move the work forward. Attending Conferences provides an opportunity to learn from industry professionals and more importantly, make connections. Speaking of Committees, I would be remiss in not highlighting some the accomplishments and upcoming events of our Committees and Councils. - United States Council's Government Relations Committee: Taskforce assembled to create a response to the FTC's and CFPB's request for information on issues that affect tenant screening. - Europe Annual Conference was held in person on June 13. The theme of this year's conference is "A Coming of Age." - Europe Council's Education Committee is preparing several "Tea and Talk" meetings for members to call in and engage in dialogue around a specific industry topic. - Canada Council's Education Committee: Finalizing mapping of Canada to United States services to help companies outside of Canada understand the Canadian equivalent of search types in the U.S. If you are looking for a little encouragement and inspiration, check out our Volunteer Recognition Program page of those who have rolled up their sleeves and have made a positive impact on the PBSA. If you get involved, you may see your name on this list one day! l
