AI Isn't Magic, but It Can Transform
Background Checks Continued from page 11
Challenges persist around data privacy, transparency and
bias. The EU Council's AI Act aims to address some of these
thorny issues. The overarching goal of the AI Act is to foster the
development and uptake of safe and trustworthy AI systems
across the EU by making it more human-centric. And herein
lies the magic. AI in the background check industry should
augment human decision-making, not replace it. Artificial
intelligence coupled with human intelligence is the winning
combination. This is when magic happens.
Providers of AI must prioritize explainability and
transparency. Trust in AI will increase when humans can
understand how these systems arrive at their decisions and
predictions. Explainable AI is responsible AI.
There are indications all around signaling that the
background check industry is ready to embrace AI
transformation. It is quickly recognizing the need to leverage
AI to automate, improve and even transform long-established
processes that are barriers to those twin pillars of business
success: efficiency and effectiveness. l
