For a few brief months, most of the industries were paralyzed, as their leaders attempted to adapt and find the best ways to overcome the aversities. The HR area was one of the first to be hit by the damaging effects of the pandemic. Hires were frozen as the future became uncertain, processes had to adjust to remote working and the wellbeing of people became the focal point for HR professionals. This situation had an undeniable effect on recruiting processes and strongly impacted the hiring trends for the upcoming years. Since the Background Screening process is most of the times directly linked to the recruitment ones, the hiring trends and practices are shaping our industry as well. Remote Hiring With companies discovering in the past year that by remote hiring they can reach out to people further from their physical offices, therefore expanding the candidates pool, this trend is here to stay. For the background screening industry this is probably one of the most impactful trends. Hiring people remotely and having them working from home is depriving the companies of the invaluable feedback that can be taken from face to face interviews and from interacting with colleagues in the office space. Since some indicators of work ethic deducted from working in the same space with a colleague are lacking, the next best solution is to obtain relevant feedback related to the candidate's previous experiences.
