Detroit News that was signed by three Michigan-based
member companies decrying the rule and explaining in
detail why it was bad for the state. Letters-to-the-editor
were also provided to Michigan member companies
to submit to their local papers.
Social Media:
Finally, we wanted to ensure decision-makers at the
court were receiving public pressure from a variety of
voices on social media. We were aggressive in promoting
our media coverage and concerns with the rule on social
media. Sample social posts with common hashtags were
also developed for member companies to use, amplifying
our collective voice.
The Results:
As a result of our efforts, PBSA garnered coverage in
several Michigan newspapers and TV stations, including:
• The Detroit News
• The Detroit Free Press
• The Alpena News
• The Morning Sun
• WNEM
• WPBN
The coverage was extremely positive and largely
reflected PBSA's point of view on the rule. Our combined
media and government relations efforts were successful.
The rule was postponed on June 30, 2021. l
