JULY/AUG 2021
Europe Council Update
By Laura Rosianu, Chair of the PBSA Europe Council Leadership
D
espite a slightly lower membership
renewal rate than usual in 2021,
the PBSA Europe Council has had a good
year so far. Many thanks to the efforts done
by the Leadership members and all the
people involved in the Committees who
have helped make 2021 a success.
What we've achieved so far:
The Membership and Events
Committee led by Susie Thomson has
organized a great Virtual Conference
in June, that has received very good
feedback from participants and it's now
available on PBSA website. At the same
time, they are working on a series of short
webinars/workshops for members in the
upcoming months.
The Education Committee led by
Michael Whittington has been busy creating
and uploading podcasts with representatives
from various countries across Europe like
Germany, Netherlands, Sweden. At the
same time, working on documenting Global
Industry Terms, for a wider use.
Under Alice Quinones's guidance,
the Industry Practice Committee is working
on an European guide for background
screening, with countries like France,
Estonia, Bulgaria, UK, Romania and
Netherlands already in process of being
documented. Also, updating the International
Service Provider Guidelines for a wider use.
Under Laura Rosianu's guidance, the
Communications Committee has published
several editions of the Europe Council
Newsletter, with valuable content from
members, sent weekly updates to members
in the form of the "Weekly Insider" and kept
the members close and informed of all
Council activities.
The Government Relations & Trade
Bodies Committee, under Keith Rosser's
guidance started providing regular updates
to members, both within the Weekly Insider
and the Newsletter, to keep the members
informed about developments within CRTB
(Criminal Records Trade Body).
Special thanks go out for Lauren
Edwards, PBSA Europe Council Secretary
for all the tireless support and hard work
throughout the year, in making sure each
Council Leader has the best tools available
and help from her side, anytime.
What we have planned so far for the
upcoming year:
We plan to continue with the events
for members where they can interact with
each other, ask questions and be answered
in real time - in the form of webinars and
Conferences.
We need to continue expanding and
diversify the membership across Europe,
adding more countries to the list.
We want to give more people the
opportunity to get involved, participate
in the committees and gain more visibility
over PBSA Europe Council. l
